I am a researcher in the Mobility and Networking Research Group at Microsoft Research, Redmond. My current research interests focus on systems security although I have worked on many aspects of systems research over the years. Together with my colleagues, I shipped a cloud service used by 20+ million users, built the reference implementation of a software TPM (aka the fTPM), and built one of the first face recognition-based payment systems known as Zero-Effort Payments (ZEP). More recently, I have been working on understanding the threat of Rowhammer attacks to a cloud provider (stay tuned). For an overview of my work on building systems that offer strong security guarantees whether in the cloud or on client devices, see (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Prior to coming to Microsoft, I was a faculty member of the Computer Science Department at the University of Toronto. I received my Ph.D. from the Computer Science & Engineering department at the University of Washington.
